The New Movement Khlysts' Beliefs
The N.M Khlysts believe that nothing in this world is inherently holy, including the Bible, the church, and the priests. They view the church as a human-made building, the priests as ordinary people without special power, and the Bible as a human-written book that does not directly connect to God. The Bible tells us about God, but it is not God itself. The act of venerating anything that is not God is not accepted by the N.M Khlysts.
The Bible
The Bible teaches us about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It also teaches us the Ten Commandments, which were given by God, not written directly in the Bible. While the Bible is one of many books written by humans, it is unique because it reveals who God is. However, just because it teaches us about God does not mean that the Bible is God, nor does it serve as a direct link to Him.
The Church and Priests
The church is simply a building where a modified version of the Bible is read aloud, and the priests further alter its message. The church is not the house of God—it is just a structure created by humans. The true house of God is His Kingdom, where we will go if we follow the Ten Commandments.
Venerating Icons
Khlysts do not venerate icons. Instead, they pray to icons as symbols of hope, not as objects of worship. They pray to God as an expression of love and faith, believing that God will eventually return to save everyone. Khlysts do not view icons as gods or saviors, nor do they revere them. According to the Ten Commandments, idolatry is forbidden—no object or image should be made into a god. Icons are used for prayer and hope, but they do not offer salvation.
